Rob Wellington Quigley, FAIA is the award-winning architectural firm that designed the five-story building.

 

The current plan includes 9,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor, with on-site parking for customers, employees, and residents. The building  is registered in the LEED for Homes Mid-rise pilot program, a voluntary rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. The development is expected to receive a LEED Platinum certification, the highest of the four rankings. This is achieved through an Integrated Design Process and involves focusing on sustainability both during construction and operation of the building.

 

Some of the green features include:

- A working urban micro-farm on site

- Free transit passes for all residents and a transit screen to take fullest advantage of high-quality mass transit nearby

- Extra insulation and window treatments, including anti-glare and double-glazing

- High-efficiency water heaters, HVAC systems, and appliances

- Conservative water use through low-flow fixtures and efficient drip irrigation in drought-tolerant landscaping

- Regional, recycled, and healthy building materials used, including formaldehyde-free insulation, cabinets, counters and shelving, linoleum flooring, low-VOC paints, sealants, adhesives and finishes

- Storm water runoff directed into bioswales and rain gardens to recharge the aquifer

- The use of a modular construction system which increased efficiency and produced less waste

 

Structured retail and residential parking is provided on the ground floor and below grade. Protected bicycle parking for both residents and guests is available.

 

Of the 135 units, one is a 2BR manager’s apartment, 6 are 1BR apartments and 128 are 450SF studio apartments. All units have a kitchen and accessible bathroom. The 1BR and 2BR units have exterior balconies. All units are permanent supportive housing with Project Based Vouchers for extremely low income households that are the most vulnerable to the high housing costs in the region. FCH partners with experienced healthcare and supportive service provider Abode Services to ensure that appropriate on-site services are available to improve the quality of life of this special needs population.​​​​​​​​​​

RENTAL INFO: This development is devoted entirely to permanent supportive housing. Residents are selected by the County of Santa Clara through the Office of Supportive Housing.
